Stone Mountain National Memorial Service CANCELLED

I regrettably have to announce that the Annual Stone Mountain Memorial Service scheduled for Saturday, April 18 is Cancelled.

I reached out yesterday to the Stone Mountain Memorial Association on the status of the Park’s operations and the Below is  their response:

Good morning.  Based on the guidelines from the President and Governor, we believe that in the best interest of all, the event should be postponed.  In addition to the President extending the federal guidelines, there was a press release yesterday from the Governor addressing parks and outdoor activities which is applicable to Stone Mountain Park.

Unfortunately I believe this is going to be the fate of most of our Confederate Memorial Services in April. But, I would encourage our members and Camps, practicing social distancing of course, to place flags on our Confederate Heroes headstones for Confederate Memorial Day and Month.

Some Good News:

Below is a photo of our completed Bronze Confederate Soldier Statue at Jack Ward’s Foundry in Cherokee County that I took last weekend. Being the proud father that I am I couldn’t resist including my wonderful daughters Lucille (left) and Maria (right).
