All donations go toward the Heritage Defense fund. You’ve heard about the tragedy at Andersonville… but what have you heard about the Confederate POW camps up north during the War in which multiplied thousands of Southerners were intentionally deprived of food, shelter, and medical provisions.  Unlike the situation with the Yankee POW’s at Andersonville, Union troops had more than enough provisions for the Confederate POW’s in their care but intentionally starved thousands to death, sometimes with rations sitting spoiling in warehouses just feet away from the malnourished prisoners.  Learn the truth about the “Prison Pens of the North” in the booklet offered by the Georgia Division.

Make a $5.00 minimum donation and we'll send you (1) Andersonville Prison and Captain Henry Wirz Trial Booklet (at cost). All donations go toward the Heritage Defense fund. This 65 page book written in 1921 by GA UDC Historian Mildred Lewis Rutherford gives facts about Andersonville Prison and Capt. Henry Wirz’ Trial in Washington, D.C.  A number of historians have called the Trial a “National Disgrace.”  The book mentions how the Yankees cut off Capt. Wirz’ head, arms, and legs, and exhibited them.  The book is a very informative source of information about Andersonville Prison and the Trial of Capt. Henry Wirz that everyone interested in WBTS history should read.
